Rose Hill is a registered charity run by a Board of Governors. It was founded in 1832 and moved to its present location in Gloucestershire in 1939.

The school aims to give a broad ranging education to its pupils in a small school with a family atmosphere. Academic standards are high and the success rate in children achieving entry to their preferred senior school is very good. There is a strong and successful sporting and extra curricular decision. Boarding was offered until July 2006 and the ethos of a boarding still exists.
